I reread Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom recently.  The last time (and first time) I’ve read it was back in 8th grade, for an English class assignment by our teacher, Ms. Ippolito.  I was touched by the book, so I wrote down quotes that I liked, and I still have that notebook from 8th grade.  Rereading it almost 10 years later, I wondered if I would find different quotes memorable and touching, so I wrote those down too.
When I compared the two quote books, I found that they were almost identical.  I was so confident that I’ve grown and changed, that I would find different things inspirational, but it was more or less the same.  Maybe it’s not a sign that I didn’t grow, but that people innately have a core that does not change.  I hope that is a good thing.

I finished reading this book last night and it reminded me of my favorite English teacher, Mrs. Jocson. Our batch was the last one she handled before she left for Tennessee, I think. She trained me for a contest and we used to have small conversations after every session. It was for a week, and we’ve talked about my dreams of becoming a teacher, too. I told myself that I will come back to see her when I become one but now I’m not so sure if I’ll be able find her the way Mitch found Morrie. I’m not even sure if I’ll ever be a teacher ‘cause I’m currently taking up Information Technology.
